ABOUT BIBLE TIMELINES (2025)

by Jacques Gauvin 2013 (revised 16 March, 20 September 2017, April 11, 2020, March 3, 2021, April 20, 2025)

I have made a number of adjustments to this article through the years. My goal is to produce a short comprehensive article that shows a distinctive link in scripture between today and Adam. I only managed to find scriptural links from Adam to Solomon. I also found considerable documentation of researchers linking Solomon to recent history. Therefore, I sense that I have a fairly strong proven explanation.

The greatest link by far is Jesus but He is a link by faith. The proven dates are illusive. It is obvious however that He, a God and the Son of God, showed up in the Form of a man in the middle of the seven-thousand-year week, that is near the 4000 year mark, and that He will return for the 7th thousand years.

I have seen a number of Bible timelines. Some can be viewed on the internet. I even have some hard copies in my possession. They all have one thing in common, they contain errors. There are other Timelines that do not even use the Bible as a source of information.

I recently did a study and determined some of the key dates in Biblical history. My findings have been verified by a few Bible students but most published Timelines disagree. I cannot tell you why they contain errors but I will say that it appears to be deliberate in some cases.

The following figures are subject to a little error since the Bible only reveals the age of the fathers in years and not in days, months and years. If we were able to take into consideration the months and days we might derive slightly different sums.

I assumed the three sons of Noah took 3 years to produce as well as the three sons of Terah. I also assumed that the ages given were for the last child. See Genesis 5:32 and Genesis 11:26.

Adam was created. Year 0. (Genesis 1:26, 27 and 2:7) (3905 BC)

1553 ±5 yrs SA (Since Adam), Shem was born. Assume Noah 497. (Genesis 5 and 11:10) (2352 BC)

1656 ±5.5 yrs SA, the flood came. Noah was 600 years old. (Genesis 7:6, 11) (2249 BC)

1950 ±9.5 yrs SA, Abram (Abraham) was born. (Genesis 11:10-26) (1955 BC) The exact age of Terah when Abraham was born is not given. This allows for a little leeway in the dates. I used 67 as the age of Terah when Abraham was born.

2030 ±10 yrs SA, Abraham is 80 years old, + up to 5 years, or not, let the reader understand, when God made a covenant with him. (Genesis 15:18 and Galatians 3:17) (1875 BC)

2049 ±10 yrs SA, Abraham is 99 years old and God makes another covenant with him. (Gen. 17) (1856 BC)

2050 ±10 yrs SA, Isaac is born, one year later. (Gen. 17:21, 21:5) (1855 BC)

2060 SA, 400 years before the Exodus. (Gen. 15:13, Acts 7:6) (2460 – 400 = 2060) (1845 BC)

2110 ±10.5 yrs SA, Jacob is born. (Gen. 25:26) (1795 BC)

2240 ±11 yrs SA, Jacob and company arrive in Egypt. (Gen. 47:5,9) (1664 BC)

2257 ±11 yrs SA, Jacob dies at the age of 147. (Gen. 47:28) (1648 BC)

2460 ± 10 yrs SA, Israel leaves Egypt. (Galatians 3:17, Genesis 15:18 and Exodus 12:40-41) (2030 + 430 = 2460) (1445 BC)

2940 ± 10 yrs SA, 480 years after leaving Egypt, Solomon begins the construction of the Temple. (1 Kings 6:1) (2460 + 480 = 2940) (965 BC)

The plus or minus, ± 10 yrs, figure represents the error limits or range of possibility. The date, 2940 SA, represents the probability and is very likely accurate.

According to some Timelines the dates given for Solomon beginning to build the Temple are years 1015 BC, 967 BC, 966 BC, 961 BC, 960 BC, 916 BC.

Dates derived for the Reign of Solomon are 1019-979 BC, 971-930 BC, 970-931 BC, 920-880 BC according to other sources.

These dates are apparently derived by scholars. So, you can see that scholars disagree with each other quite a bit. For my exercise I chose the year 965 BC as the year that Solomon began to build the Temple. This is 50 years away from the earliest date and 50 years away from the latest date that the scholars determined.

Using this date, we can determine the date of the creation of Adam as 3905 BC (± 60 yrs or ± 10 yrs if the year 965 BC is accurate). (965 + 2940 = 3905)

6000 SA, computes to the year 2090 AD ± 60 years, since there is no year zero (6000 – 3905 BC + 1 = 2096 AD).

Pardon my human condition of limited knowledge but the best I can estimate is that we are in the year 5929 +/- 60 years Since Adam was created, as of 20 April 2025 AD. (3905 BC + 2025 AD - 1 = 5929 SA, 5930 SA after Feast of Trumpets)

This means that we may be as little as 10 years from the year 6000 (5930 + 60 + 10) or as many as 130 years away from the year 6000 (5930 - 60 + 130).

6000 SA = 2090 AD +/- 60 yrs, between 2030 AD and 2150 AD, 5 years away to 125 years away. The nearer date seems more likely to me as I view prophesy developing. Therefore 2025 AD corresponds to 5930 SA as of the Day of Trumpets 2025 AD.

-------

The significance of the year 6000 is that it would mark the end of the sixth day of man's rule on earth and the beginning of the seventh day of Christ's rule in God's seven-day plan considering a thousand years for one day. (See Psalm 90:4, 2 Peter 3:8 and Revelation 20:2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7). This may just be a general guide but at the same time it is a stated Biblical concept.

Making the beginning of the building of the Temple in the year 965 BC
and Adam would have been created in 3905 BC.
