Setting Priorities

1 Timothy 5:8 (GNB)
But if anyone does not take care of his relatives, especially the members of his own family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Tithing is not one of the ten commandments. It is conditional.
If the cost of living for you and your family is $20,000 per year and your earnings are $10,000 per year, should you pay a tithe? Tithing is of the increase of your earnings.

Does the cost of processing out weigh benefits?
Why waste time calculating precise tithes when you could be spending time earning money to tithe?

Counted gold and silver but not bronze.
1 Chronicles 22:3 (GNB)
He supplied a large amount of iron for making nails and clamps for the wooden gates, and so much bronze that no one could weigh it.

Do not be penny wise pound foolish.
Matthew 23:24 (NIV84)
You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

Do not save money if it means to lose health. Shop wisely.

Avoid extremes.
Ecclesiastes 7:16 to 18 (GNB)
16 So do not be too good or too wise, why kill yourself?
17 But do not be too wicked or too foolish, either, why die before you have to?
18 Avoid both extremes. If you have reverence for God, you will be successful anyway.

Ecclesiastes 2:24 (GNB) (3:13, 22, 4:5 and 6, 13 and 14, 5:18, 8:15, 9:7 and 8)
The best thing anyone can do is to eat and drink and enjoy what he has earned. And yet, I realized that even this comes from God.

1 Corinthians 14:40 (NKJV)
Let all things be done decently and in order.

God will give without measure.
John 3:34 (NKJV)
For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.
