Understanding repentance is critical to becoming a follower of Jesus and living a Christian life.
Repentance is:
1. Changing for the better. (Proverbs 19:22)
2. Renewing your mind with facts and righteous intentions. (Proverbs 14:8)
3. Replacing false ideas with the truth of God. (Proverbs 18:15)
4. Adopting the ways and words of God rather than the words of man or men. (Psalm 118:8 and 9)
5. Adding purpose, direction and truth all in the spirit of God to your life. (Ephesians 5:9)
6. To worship in truth and spirit as opposed to what you used to do. (John 4:23)
7. Adding only righteousness and just values to your ways and your character. (Psalm 89:14)
8. Changing from your old ignorant and faulty ways to the righteous ways of God. (Mark 6:12 Amplified Bible)
9. To stop thinking that I am ok and to start living a sinless life according to the will of God. (2 Timothy 3:2 to 4)
10. To stop rejecting God and to start accepting God. (1 John 2:23)
11. Being sorry for past indifference, ignorance and sinful behavior and to adopt the knowledge of God. (Romans 8:15)
12. Learning what is right and what is wrong according to the Holy Scriptures, believing it and changing your behaviour to do what is right and not do what is wrong. (Proverbs 2:9, 11:19)
13. Improving by God^s standards. (Proverbs 1:8 and 9, 1 Timothy 4:15)
14. Setting yourself right with God according to His desires not yours. (Ezekiel 11:21, Hosea 6:6)
15. Striving for righteousness in the eyes of God. (Psalm 33:4, 5, 13 to 15, 18, Philippians 1:27)
16. Regret for past behaviour and submitting yourself to the example and authority of Jesus. (Luke 13:3 Amplified Bible, Hebrews 12:9, Galatians 5:1, Ephesians 5:24)
17. Changing from one who cares little to one who cares a lot. (Isaiah 46:4 GNB, Ephesians 5:1)
18. Re~establishing priorities and goals to attaining eternal life in God^s kingdom. (John 1:30, Philippians 3:14, 1Thessalonians 2:12, Matthew 6:33)
19. To turn from trying to be accepted to trying to get God^s and Jesus^ ways accepted. (Mark 8:35)
20. Having faith in God rather than other preconceived ideas and ideals or faiths. (Exodus 20:3, 1 Kings 8:60)
21. Finding God a adopting His ways. (Jeremiah 29:13, Ephesians 6:11 and 13, Ezekiel 34:11)
22. Putting God first in your life. (Proverbs 3:6 The Living Bible)
23. Is not ^I did that, now what.^ (Proverbs 14:8, Acts 8:22)
24. Is part of a Godly way of life. (1 Corinthians 13:9, Matthew 7:14)
