Our Own Way
Isaiah 53 prophecises about the suffering, crucifixion and death of Jesus who was rejected as the Lord by the Jews. Verse 6 states that we have all turned to our own way.
Deuteronomy 29:19 to 21 (NIV84) warns:
When such a person hears the words of this oath, he invokes a blessing on himself and therefore thinks, I will be safe, even though I persist in goinG my own way. This will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry. The LORD will never be willing to forgive him; his wrath and zeal will burn against that man. All the curses written in this book will fall upon him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven. The LORD will single him out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.
Deuteronomy 28:20 (NIV84)
The LORD will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruin because of the evil you have done in forsaking Him.
Deuteronomy 28:58 to 63 (NIV84)
If you do not carefully follow all the words of this law, which are written in this book, and do not revere this glorious and awesome name, the LORD your God, the LORD will send fearful plagues on you and your descendants, harsh and prolonged disasters, and severe and lingering illnesses. ... The LORD will also bring on you every kind of sickness and disaster not recorded in this Book of the Law, until you are destroyed. You who were as numerous as the stars in the sky will be left buT few in number, because you did not obey the LORD your God. Just as it pleased the LORD to make you prosper and increase in number, so it will please him to ruin and destroy you. You will be uprooted from the land you are entering to possess.
Do you think it just a coincidence or bad luck that Israel was cast out of the promised land, first the lost ten tribes of Israel by the Assyrians around 722BC and then the Jews by the Babylonians around 597, 587 and 582 BC and again by the Romans around 70 AD? Do you think it just a coincidence that the holocaust of the Jews happened during WWII? Do you think it a coincidence that the modern day nation of Israel will soon face desolation? Do you think it a coincidence that the United States and Great Britain will soon face the consequences of disobedience as well stated in Deuteronomy 28 and Leviticus 26?
Deuteronomy 30:1 to 4 (NASB)
So it shall be when all of these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind in all nations where the LORD your God has banished you, and you return to the LORD your God and obey Him with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and your sons, then the LORD your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you. If your outcasts are at the ends of the earth, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back.
