Maturity vs Selfishness

Of course girls mature faster than boys, with puberty comes the shedding of blood, very sobering. They start thinking of having a baby, getting married and raising a family before boys, generally speaking. They also often realize earlier and with greater depth the seriousness of getting pregnant and providing for a child. They must mature faster. Otherwise many girls would be mothers. Many males don't start thinking about getting married and raising a family until their early twenties.

Maturing is a lifelong process. There are many aspects to maturity. For example, one can be physically mature but emotionally setback or one can have mature work ethics but be a lousy homemaker. The way I see it, a critically important maturity is getting married before having children.

Promiscuity frequently leads to abortions or single parent families. It also increases sexually transmitted diseases. These are signs of severe immaturity that debilitates society.

So where does selfishness come in? It is the 'I want a baby and I want it now' syndrome in females and the 'I want sexual release or pleasure and I want it now' or 'I want a soul mate now' syndrome in males and females. The immature are governed by their emotions and their hormones.

Maturity is overcoming or controlling the pulls of the flesh and acting according to the will of God.
