Fundamentals, Let Us Reason Together

God wants us to reason together. How can we establish fundamentals of religion without reasoning and coming to terms with God our Father and our brother Jesus? Truth, consistency in truth, patience in truth and understanding of truth are all necessary for a constructive and lasting relationship with God.

Many a thinking man has wondered about the beginning of things; the beginning, of man, of the earth, of life, of Jesus, of the Word, of our Creator Father God and other things. I want to share a few of my thoughts with you in this composition about some things that many have thought about, discussed and written about in the past but for some unknown reason have not understood or disclosed it in quite the same way that I do.

Here are some thoughts and observations on a couple of the mysteries that face man when it comes to understanding some spiritual matters all in the interest of truth, acknowledging truth and revealing truth.

If God only created Adam and Eve and the rest of mankind was just a natural consequence, though miraculous, of cell division stemming from the initial creation and is not to be considered created, as I have heard it expressed, then if God the Father miraculously divided Himself into two beings, Father and Son, back eternity ago then that also would not be considered the creation of the Word. Many Bible readers believe that the Word was not created but eternally existed along with the Father, see John chapter one. The eternal existence of the Word in times past would not be violated as He would have existed in the Father prior to becoming a distinct being.

On the other hand, if every human is considered a created being then while Jesus was a man divested of His former glory or certainly while He was in the grave for three days and three nights God the Father alone would have been doing the creating during that time. Therefore all things up to the time of the virgin Mary's impregnation were created by God through the Word. Many or most Bible students believe that nothing was created without it being created through the Word, see John chapter one. If Jesus the former Word was dead how could he have been creating new lives? So far the only response I have gotten to this question is to change the topic, sometimes accompanied by repulsive attitudes.

John 1:1–4 (NKJV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

For me this is a perplexing undeniable riddle, an enigma wrapped in an enigma.

It's easy to put a lot of weight on one scripture or one observation and disregard the rest. It is not so easy to take all observable, or observed, factors into consideration or to note observable things that do not have apparent scripture to uphold them. It is easy to take a stand on one side of an argument and to show all supporting evidence but not so easy to accept and face perplexing truth and the discomfort of the unknown.

Is it necessary that the Word have always existed as a separate being from the Father in order for Him to qualify as the sacrificial Lamb for the forgiveness of sins so that we might also attain eternal life? Could the Word have existed in the Father prior to becoming an individual entity and still be fully considered as eternally existing? And can we believe the Bible that states that Jesus said:

Mark 10:27 (NKJV)
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

John 10:29–30 (NKJV)
My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.

Does anyone honestly understand the full meaning of this passage? Couple this with the following passage,

John 1:18 (GNB)
No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father’s side, he has made Him known.

Jesus has made His Father, who is of the same likeness, known to mankind. The Father impregnated Mary through the holy spirit and is the Father of Jesus. But was He also the Father of the Word? Was He always the Father, the same yesterday, today and forever? Jesus, the Word, died, both flesh and spirit, and was dead for more than three days and three nights, about 75 hours. The Father is the one who resurrected Jesus back to life in the spirit in His former glory. In my mind this was very much like a new creation. There is no doubt that the Father resurrected Jesus, could He not have formed the Word eternity ago as well? As you saw above, the bible states that with God all things are possible. In my mind it is also possible.

How can two people read the same words of the bible and come up with two different understandings? How can one know the Father and the Son and the other not when reading the same information that reveals them? These are secrets that only God the Father can control.

Luke 10:22 (NKJV)
All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

Let's look at this passage from the book of Revelation for a moment.

Revelation 1:8 (NKJV)
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

What I understand by this is that the Almighty sets the boundaries of the beginning and the end that His kingdom will operate within. We will exist and our knowledge will be limited to the boundaries that the Almighty controls. And so it is as John has told us that in the beginning two beings existed, our creators, God Almighty and the Word. What transpired before that we may never know if it is the will of the Almighty not to reveal it. At best, for now, we see dimly, we have limited knowledge. Another limitation that you might consider is that apparently there will be no parallel or independent universe with an independent God at any time in the future, only the one Kingdom Of God ruled by Jesus Christ and His kings and priests.

Matthew 28:18 (NKJV)
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Luke 12:32 (NKJV)
Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Isaiah 43:7 (GNB)
They are my own people, and I created them to bring me glory.

This passage seems to indicate that each person was a unique creation. It also implicates that God is doing all things to bring Himself glory, for His own pleasure. Why would the Almighty Creator do things that bring Him misery and disrespect? Would that not make Him confusing?

1 Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV)
For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.

Examine the nature of Jesus once again.

John 10:37–38 (NKJV)
If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.

I think that those who have an understanding of biological cell division and wireless communication have a good understanding of what this means, at least physically.

John 3:12 (NKJV)
If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

This still takes nothing away from this following passage and concept.

John 14:28 (NKJV)
You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.

Bear in mind also what Paul stated in

Philippians 2:5 to 11 (NKJV)
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

All is revealed;

John 15:15 (NKJV)
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

Let us reason together without neglecting any of these statements found in the Bible.

With God all things are possible.
I (Jesus) and My Father are one.
The Father is in Me, and I (Jesus) in Him.
I (the Almighty) am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.
All authority has been given to Me (Jesus) in heaven and on earth.
The Word (who became Jesus) was God.
My Father is greater than I (Jesus).
All things that I (Jesus) heard from My Father I have made known to you, my disciples.
God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Some insist that it's as easy as pie but what if it's a piece of cake?
