What Is Christianity?
Christianity is a religion which is a way of life based on the Bible. It is the actions and spirit of its disciples.
To what can you compare Christianity?
It is like wind, fire and water. It has certain characteristics and qualities. It has certain functions and capacities. It is a reflection of the God of life, love and spirit. It is like a ship or a vessel. And it is like a sheep with a Sheppard.
Why Christianity?
I chose Christianity because it was made available to me and it is the best thing that I have found. I found it in the Bible and through the assistance of the Church of God, thanks to God and His guidance. Once I had discovered Christianity it was like finding a pearl of great value, there was no need to look for something better.
At work I follow the instructions of my boss because he has the experience and knowledge to do good work. When I invest I follow the guide of experienced investors and subscribe to a news letter that most closely reflects my perspective and objective. When it comes to religion I follow the fundamental principles of the Holy Scriptures. How do I know they are Holy? I had to study them using my might. There is no work done by man that comes remotely close to what is revealed in the Bible. The Bible gives credit to God for its contents and it is true from start to finish, it is a revelation from God. The proof is in the study and it is ongoing like a river. Intellectually I am for peace not for war. Religion as defined in the Bible is the best way to peace that I have encountered. According to my heart and mind it is a good fit.
Why Christianity?
Christianity is a purity that cleanses and makes whole. Though we are but a drop in the bucket, so to speak, we are a purifying drop. We are the salt of the earth that gives food its flavour or water its cleansing qualities. Christianity gives life meaning and gives life itself.
How does a Christian grow?
A Christian grows through payer, fasting, study, meditation and through good works. Much learning and growth happens because of good works. Prayer often seems ineffective. Fasting, study, meditation and even good works sometimes seem futile. But we are not to become discouraged, this is a commandment. We do not yet have the insight to see the effects or results of most of our efforts. Faith and trust in God are essential to Christianity.
How do you attain faith?
Faith is a gift from God. Life is a gift from God. Eternal life is a gift from God. If you set your heart and mind and might toward God, He will respond in kind, in His way and in His time. If you continuously oppose God He will turn from you. So faith is very closely intertwined with will. God is righteous and seeks righteousness. God is kind and rewards kindness. God notices every good work and encourages it. What you will to do and what you do are manifestations of your faith. Faith is a gift from God and faith with works, that is faith in action, will be rewarded.
To God be the glory for without Him we would not even exist. All our efforts are possible because we were given the body, mind and environment to do those things. Certainly we have free will and the capacity to decide things for ourselves and we will be judged according to our decisions and actions. To be a Christian is to acknowledge God and to show love for God. If we are God^s then we will become Gods and live but if we are not God^s then we are only gods and will perish.
