The blessings bestowed on the nations of Great Britain, a commonwealth of nations, and the United States of America were predominantly due to promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Israel (Jacob) thousands of years ago. Those promises have, to a large extent, been fulfilled and are near the end of their course.
These two great nations, the greatest the world has ever seen, followed some of God^s ways, instructions and laws but, for the most part, did not qualify or were not regarded as God^s people by God. To qualify as God^s people they would have had to obey all ten of the ten commandments, in particular the fourth commandment which God states is the test commandment, the sign that you are His (Exodus 31:13, Ezekiel 20:12, 20). They would also have had to follow the example of Jesus in observing the high-holy days as depicted in Exodus 12 and Leviticus 23 and as an underlying theme throughout the Holy Scriptures.
What I am saying is that these two nations were never Christian nations, they were merely descendants of Abraham, descendants of the lost ten tribes of Israel. They held an outward form of religion but lacked wholeness and holiness and the approval of God.
And so the many blessings were thanks to His promises and not thanks to the people of these great nations, not thanks to the many battles they fought or the many laws they lived by or the wonderful loving characters and well meaning people that they might have been. They were not genuinely or whole heartedly obeying God and living by the Bible or following Jesus Christ.
These blessings are fast coming to an end. This is not because God is unfair (Deuteronomy 7:12, 8:11, 9:4). For many years, even centuries, Great Britain and the US have had ready access to the Holy Scriptures, more so than many other nations, even more so today with computers and the internet. In just a few minutes of research an answer to almost any question you might have about the Bible can be found in the comfort of your home or office and even from a park bench. But rather than turning to God these nations are turning away from God. More and more they are rejecting the Bible, true religion, the real Jesus and God and turning to evil. Very few are genuinely trying to please God, to obey God, to believe the Bible, to prove and believe truth and to follow Jesus Christ.
If you are one of the people who wants to repent, change your ways, beliefs and observances to conform to God and His Word, I would suggest starting your research at United Church of God, see links on this website.
