The Enemy Within
When I was younger
so much younger than today
there was a cold war on
a nuclear arms race
the USA stood for liberty
hard work and hard play
honesty and integrity
people in Russia died of hunger
vodka addicts all over the place
their government media lied to all
the land of tyranny was destined to fall
we felt sorry for it all
but even in Canada we stood tall
knowing that our ways were better
that democracy and capitalism
trumped Marxism and communism
but I'm older now and pray I were wiser
it's hard to see and hard to admit
that our governments and media
are no longer superior
that we struggle to the end of our wit
to impress on the importance
that our countries should stand for liberty
hard work and reward
honesty and integrity
but alas Satan is establishing his stance
the government cannot move forward
the enemy is indeed within
people are no longer troubled by sin
lies and foul language rule the day
no matter what President Trump will say.
You're proud you're brave and don't yelp
still I plead for God to help.
