I^ve wanted to be a poet
I^ve known it for some time
I tend to write in simple verse
Makes it easy to converse
This I say with much dismay
it^s hard to make it pay
I think I would if pay was good
write a poem one mile high
Without a whimper or a sigh
Even write in all in rhyme
In time in time if pay was good
I^m not a writer it^s plain to see
Nor do I plead upon my knee
I^m not an lawyer or a Jay
But still deserve some pay
I write it^s true to pass the time
And too I write to ease my mind
My precious time much better spent
In drinking wine and paying rent
