Bitter Road

God is at work the ministers say
But man toys with fate day by day
Human reasoning stands in the way
Believe God knows how to work clay
The cauldrons boil and bubble
With growing toil and trouble
Still knowing we should not stray
From trust and faith in God's way
But the road is long
Designed for the strong
When a month goes by like a week
Health and stamina get weak
And there are many rights
Yet sleepless nights
And there are many wrongs
And many sad songs
And decisions are required
Instead of a raise you get fired
What to do what to do
To keep from donning blue
A man is a fool who cares not for his own
God is at work or sitting on His thrown
Jesus walked that bitter narrow road
To His cross with a full load
He overcame the world was revived
Now sits with His Father sanctified
So when we feel tired and empty
Eternal life awaits a life of plenty.
